AI freight booking

AI-powered automation of carrier selection and negotiation for transport bookings.

AI freight booking simultaneously contacts multiple carrier sources (preferred subcontractors, freight exchanges B2PWeb/Teleroute, internal marketplaces), negotiates prices automatically and confirms bookings. What used to take 1-3 hours manually now takes under 10 minutes with AI. Modern solutions use ML for: multi-criteria matching (coverage, specialization, scoring, price), price prediction with confidence interval, automated counter-offers based on history. Observed gains: 8-18% savings on freight prices, 70-85% time saved.

Related terms

B2PWeb

Leading French freight exchange with 30,000+ connected companies.

B2PWeb is the most-used carrier-shipper marketplace in France. It allows posting freight offers, receiving proposals, rating carriers and signing agreements. Modern TMS integrate B2PWeb via API to auto-publish offers and pull responses without manual entry. B2PWeb has progressively added AI features to compete with newer cloud-native solutions.

Related terms

Carrier vigilance / duty of care

Process of verifying subcontractor compliance with social, fiscal and regulatory obligations.

In France, carrier vigilance is enforced by article L.8222-1 (general) and L.3221-2 (transport-specific). Documents to verify: K-bis, URSSAF certificate, insurance, transport license, plus A1 detachment for foreign carriers. Verification must be renewed every 6 months. Modern solutions automate document collection (carrier portal), validation (OCR + AI), expiration alerts (D-30, D-15, D-7) and audit trail for inspections.

Related terms

CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive)

EU directive 2022/2464 requiring companies to publish a sustainability report.

CSRD requires companies above 250 employees (or €50M revenue) to publish an annual sustainability report including: CO2 emissions (scopes 1, 2, 3), water consumption, biodiversity, human rights, governance. The report must follow the ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards). For transport and logistics, scope 3 (upstream/downstream transport) is usually the largest contribution. Companies need granular TMS data to produce these reports.

Related terms

Dashdoc

Leading French platform for transport operations digitization (e-CMR, tracking).

Dashdoc is used by 30,000+ companies in France in 2026. Features: e-CMR with electronic signature, GPS tracking via mobile driver app, dispatch-driver communication, digital delivery notes. The Dashdoc REST API allows modern TMS (like SYMPHONI.A) to sync orders, carriers, statuses and e-CMR in real time via webhooks. TMS-Dashdoc integration has become a de-facto standard for French carriers.

Related terms

e-CMR (electronic consignment note)

Digital version of the CMR consignment note, mandatory document for road freight transport.

The e-CMR is governed by the Additional Protocol to the CMR Convention (2008), ratified by France in 2016. It has the same legal value as paper CMR provided eIDAS-compliant electronic signature is used. Benefits: paper elimination (-60 to -80% document costs), multi-party signature (sender, carrier, recipient), automatic archiving with certified timestamp, integration with tracking tools. e-CMR is accepted at road inspections via verification QR code.

Related terms

eIDAS

European regulation 910/2014 on electronic identification and trust services.

The eIDAS regulation (electronic IDentification, Authentication and trust Services) defines three levels of electronic signature: simple, advanced, qualified (equivalent to handwritten). For e-CMR, an advanced signature is generally sufficient. eIDAS makes electronic signatures legally enforceable across the 27 EU member states.

Related terms

GLEC Framework

Standardized methodology to calculate transport and logistics CO2 emissions.

The GLEC Framework (Global Logistics Emissions Council) is the global reference methodology for measuring greenhouse gas emissions from multimodal transport. Aligned with ISO 14083 (2023) and EU CountEmissions ETS regulation (2024). For each shipment, GLEC computes emissions accounting for vehicle type, fuel, distance, payload and emission factors. Essential for CSRD reporting and customer communication.

L.8222-1 (French duty of care)

French Labour Code article requiring shippers to verify their subcontractor compliance.

Article L.8222-1 applies to any service contract above €5,000 excl. VAT. Shippers must collect and verify every 6 months: K-bis (company registration), tax compliance certificate, URSSAF social security certificate, transport license. Non-compliance makes the shipper jointly liable for the carrier's social and tax debts. URSSAF reassessments can exceed €200,000 for a multi-employee subcontractor. Solutions like Vigilance IA fully automate this workflow.

Related terms

NSGA-II

Multi-objective genetic optimization algorithm widely used in logistics.

NSGA-II (Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II) is an evolutionary algorithm that computes the 'Pareto frontier': the set of optimal solutions balancing multiple conflicting objectives (cost, delay, CO2, fill rate). Unlike single-objective algorithms (which minimize ONE metric), NSGA-II presents multiple solutions to choose from. SYMPHONI.A uses NSGA-II for transport plan optimization, with computation times under 30 seconds for 10,000+ shipments.

Related terms

TMS (Transport Management System)

Software platform managing road, sea, air or multimodal transport operations.

A TMS covers the full lifecycle of transport: route planning and optimization, carrier selection, order management, real-time tracking, document management (e-CMR), invoicing and reporting. Modern TMS solutions (2026) integrate AI for automated decision-making: carrier matching, price prediction, anomaly detection. The market includes cloud-native players (SYMPHONI.A, Shippeo) and legacy suites (Generix, Transwide).
